A Brandenburg Christmas

  • St Stephen Walbrook 39 Walbrook London, England, EC4N 8BN United Kingdom (map)

Accompanied by mince pies and mulled wine made to an ancient and secret family recipe this concert is guaranteed to get you fully into the Christmas spirit with a wide stylistic range of Christmas-flavoured ethereal music, entertaining readings and opportunities to stretch the vocal chords by joining in with a few traditional and well-known carols.

The Brandenburg Singers is a small hand-picked group drawn from the finest of the members of the 150 choirs that perform in the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London. The concert will be introduced and conducted by Bob Porter — Artistic Director of the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London.

Close to the Roman Temple of Mithras, St Stephen Walbrook was rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren in 1679 (at a cost of £7,672) and now combines typical Wren elegance with a number of interesting more modern facets including a Henry Moore travertine altar, Patrick Heron kneelers and the original telephone used by the vicar in 1953, Chad Varah as a confidential help-line that became what we now know as the Samaritans.

NB Access to St Stephen is via a few steps.
