A Brandenburg Christmas - Arts Society Concert

  • St Bartholomew the Great Cloth Fair London, England, EC1A United Kingdom (map)

Accompanied by mince pies and mulled wine made to an ancient and secret family recipe this concert is guaranteed to get you fully into the Christmas spirit with a wide stylistic range of Christmas-flavoured ethereal music, entertaining readings and opportunities to stretch the vocal chords by joining in with a few traditional and well-known carols.

The Brandenburg Singers is a small hand-picked group drawn from the finest of the members of the 150 choirs that perform in the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London. The concert will be introduced and conducted by Bob Porter — Artistic Director of the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London.

St Bartholomew the Great is London’s oldest parish church. At the heart of the Smithfield area, with its hospital, pubs, restaurants, and market, is a church built when Henry I, son of William the Conqueror, was King of England. It survived the Great Fire of 1666 and the bombs dropped in two World Wars.

Today the Church has a reputation not only for wonderful Romanesque architecture, but also for traditional formal worship, marvellous music and intelligent preaching. It has also appeared in a series of award-winning films including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, The End of the Affair, Amazing Grace, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and The Other Boleyn Girl.

Tickets £19.50, include mulled wine and mince pie. This is a private concert for the Greater London Area of the Arts Society: members should contact ASGLA Chair.
