Mozart Requiem by candlelight

  • St Martin-in-the-Fields Trafalgar Square London WC2N 4JH United Kingdom (map)

The Choirs of Jesus College, Cambridge, sing a rich variety of music including the London Premiere of Ralph Schmitt’s ‘Makakusikelele uYehova’, which was composed in 2018 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. In the first half, the College’s two choirs – the Chapel Choir (consisting of boy trebles and men) and the College Choir (mixed adult voices) present a program of a cappella music both ancient and modern. After the interval they join forces with the Brandenburg Sinfonia and soloists to perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s towering masterpiece, his Requiem in D minor, K. 626 conducted by Director of Music, Richard Pinel.
