Over the years of the Brandenburg Choral Festival we have been particularly excited to see the explosion in interest in work place choirs and tonight we are proud to present two of the finest: Citi UK Choir and the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir.
Having both starred in Gareth Malone's BBC 2 show 'Sing While You Work', the two choirs have continued to go from strength to strength. Citi Choir has performed in public concerts at iconic London venues such as the Hammersmith Apollo and the Hackney Empire, and made its North American debut in 2014, helping raise $2m for cancer research charities.
Meanwhile, the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS reached the UK's Christmas no. 1 slot in 2015 (thanks in part to the help of a certain Justin Bieber) and recorded it's first album Something So Strong Inside in 2016.
Tonight the two choirs are set to entertain us with a diverse programme featuring modern choral classics by Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo and Will Todd, Gospel works and arrangements of favourite pop songs dating from the 60s to the present day. Dan Ludford-Thomas and Peter D Mitchell show their talents as arrangers and conductors, and lead our two fantastic choirs through this varied programme in the lovely surroundings of St Paul’s Covent Garden.
