BRANDENBURG STRING ORCHESTRA PLAYS CALEDONIAN CLUB BALL
Our String Orchestra had a lovely evening playing at The Caledonian Club's Annual Club Ball on Friday 5 May.
Our regular principal players Charis, Jens, Matthew and Ben really enjoyed the event - not least getting everyone up and dancing!
A few steps away from Buckingham Palace, The Caledonian Club is one of Belgravia’s discreet gems.
Founded in 1891 under the leadership of the Marquis Tullibardine, the Club moved away from its St James’ location during the Second World War.
It opened at 9 Halkin Street in 1946 where it still stands, in a property which was the last mansion house of its kind built in London.
The Club Ball took place ahead of the King's Coronation, with the Club spectacularly presented with beautiful floral decorations, lighting displays and rooms filled with fun activities.
Members and guests were treated to a feast of music too with Gordon's School Pipes and Drums providing a rousing welcome along with house piper, Roddy Livingstone.
Aside from the Brandenburg String Orchestra, the Sandy Nixon Scottish Dance Band got everyone’s toes tapping in the main Ball Room to finish the evening.
