"How Can I Keep From Singing": A celebration of community opera and choral music making

The Brandenburg Festival is delighted to welcome Clerkenwell Community Choir, The London Phoenix Choir and Thames Opera Company.

They are each a reborn progeny of respectively the London Symphony Orchestra Community Choir, the English National Opera’s Community Choir and the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus.

Conductors Jeremy Haneman and Emily Dickens.

They will sing separately and jointly to present a programme of familiar opera choruses including those from Tosca, Nabucco and Semele, as well as from modern operas Nixon in China by John Adams and Der Wald by Ethel Smyth.

There will also be choral items including compositions by Sarah Quartel, Tracy Wong, Stephen Paulus and Lady Gaga!
