The Cherry Pie Choir was established in 2008 in Wimbledon and they rehearse every week. Over the last 14 years they have performed in a variety of concerts, festivals and competitions around the country including the 606 Club in Chelsea, the Old Royal Naval College chapel, The Harlequin Theatre and every Christmas they sing carols under the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square for a chosen charity. They have won a number of choir competitions over the last few years and taken part in festival concerts in and around Surrey. In addition to live performances they have also recorded a number of albums over the year and are excited about their latest album ‘A Slice of Country Pie’ which will go on public release in July this year. In 2019 as part of the choir’s 10th anniversary celebrations they went on tour to New York City where they performed in the Empire State Building, the USS Intrepid and at the Bandshell in Central Park.
They sing all genres and styles of music including classical, jazz, musical theatre and gospel and often choose to focus on a particular genre for a few months. This year’s project is Country and Western music and tonight they will be performing a selection of country music spanning the last few decades.
