The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London welcomes period specialists The Ripieno Choir to the 2018 Spring Series.
David Hansell conducts as they explore the music of three of Germany's most important composers at court: Lassus in Munich, Schütz in Dresden, and of course, J.S. Bach, who served at Weimar, Cöthen and Leipzig. The works chosen demonstrate Lassus's florid six-part polyphony, Schütz's flair for the dramatic, and Bach's mastery of chromaticism and counterpoint, especially in the jubilant Lobet den Herrn, one of his most famous and notoriously difficult choral works. Join us for this programme of vocal fireworks with accompaniment on period instruments.
