The second of tonight's concerts features festival regulars, The Purcell Singers. Mark Ford conducts this brilliant choir in Rachmaninov's epic Vespers, or All-Night Vigil, with its legendary low-bass voices and melodies based on traditional chant, to transport us to the unique soundworld of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Purcell Singers’ performances are always a festival highlight and we are delighted to welcome them for this late-night concert on our opening night in the beautiful surroundings of a candlelit St Martin’s.
