Water turns to blood, flies buzz, and hailstones rain down as Handel’s music leads us through the ten plagues, the crossing of the Red Sea, and the drowning of Pharaoh’s armies. Handel is one of music’s most imaginative storytellers, and is believed to have used the same librettist for this work as for Messiah. This choral and orchestral masterpiece makes the great biblical drama of liberation come alive.
